3 Weeks Post Op and almost all healed (on outside anyway)!

I've been following alot of other wonderful women's hip blogs and some have their proud 'battle wounds' so I thought Id post my quick recovering "cat scratches". It's amazing how minimally invasive the procedure was!

Woohoo made it thru first full day in the office. Sitting long periods seems to be ok...thankfully!

Recovering!!

I drove myself to physical therapy yesterday and then even made it out for a walk in my neighborhood last night. Of course Im very sore today but feeling ready to get back to working and worrying about other things, at least for a while! SOO glad to finally connect with some other hip surgery grrls at hip chicks!

Second day without crutches and off heavy meds. Finally starting to feel normal again!

Tools of the Trade

Here are some things I have found very useful on this journey

First day of physical therapy. Just got some electrical stim so that was ok. Still at bout 8 on the pain scale. And having broken both wrists in the past means crutches are starting to hurt the wrists boooo.

Pain meds have deactivated any decision making capability i may have had and ALL i want to do is SLEEP

Day 4 Post Op

Doing bit better with each day, can almost stand on operated leg with crutches. Made it downstairs and back up at least once per day. Gradually decreasing pain meds. Thanks to my nifty shower chair I can shower without standing (very key). Also can finally lie on one side for more than 1/2 hr woohoo.

Post-op day one! I am so proud that I haven't cried or lost my cookies this whole time! Gettin some good movie watchin in.

What is FAI?

FAI stands for Femoroacetabular Impingement (FAI)
Here is a great explanation...
In addition to having a labral tear repaired I am also having osteoplasty to reshape the head of my femur (leg) bone
so it doesn't cause friction inside the hip ball/socket.
