Walking Finally!

So after 3 long weeks of 20% weight bearing on the left leg I am finally walking on both feet, although still with the help of one crutch. I've been to PT 3x and recovering very well!

Left Hip Labral Repair Arthroscopy Surgery Picture

Ok here is the best of the pictures from my recent Left Hip Labral Repair Arthroscopy Surgery on 3/27/13. The picture shows the 2 push lock anchors used to reattach the labrum after it was debrided and repaired. They also did femoroplasty in an attempt to prevent any further FAI.

One Week Post-Op Left Hip Surgery #2

So I have officially made it through my first post-op week of my left hip surgery #2. The results were that the first hip surgery repair and suture were still in place and that a new, additional tear had occurred nearby. This time they debrided and push lock anchored with 2 sutures, so I now have a total of 3. Pictures coming soon from the surgery hopefully. I also found out today I will be on crutches another TWO not ONE week. :( Disappointed to say the least considering for some reason I had thought it was only 2 week crutches time. Oh well time does seem to be flying by with all this sleeping and pain medications so I'm sure before I know it, it will be all behind me again.

Celebrity Hip Sister

I was so thrilled to learn that someone so famous is now one of our hip sisters. Lady Gaga was diagnosed with a labral hip tear and underwent a hip arthroscopy just this past month to repair it. Here's to being born that way!

Left Hip Surgery Re-do coming up

So I haven't updated my blog in a very long time. I guess I was hoping my hip surgery days were behind me. As it turns out that is not the case. :( I am going back in end of this month to have a second arthroscopy done on my Left Hip. This hip was first operated on back in August 2010. Recent MRI shows a "persistent labral tear" meaning either the one I had never healed, the repair failed, or I have a new one. We will find out soon enough. Not really looking forward to crutches and rehab but more updates coming soon!
